Volvo S70

The Volvo S70
Volvo S70
Released in the United States in 1998 in both sedan and wagon models, the Volvo S70 represented new styling and suspension from the 1993-1997 Volvo 850. There were six body styles for the S70 which were the base model, the SE, the GL, the GLT, T5, and the R. The exterior of the Volvo S70 had new headlamps and a reshaped hood in addition to a front end that was more rounded than the Volvo 850. The interior of the Volvo S70 also included dual front and side airbags which the 850 did not have and was simply an added safety feature.

The base model of the Volvo S70 has a 2.4 litre DOHC 5 cylinder engine and produced 168 horsepower. The GLT had a turbocharged version of the same engine that increased the horsepower to 190 making it a very fast and powerful car, though it's not a car that will beat all others off the line. The T5 had a highly tuned 2.3 litre turbocharged engine. The base and T5 models optioned a 5 speed manual transmission. All models of the S70 also offered a traction control sysem that would limit wheel slippage. All models also included 4 wheel antilock disc brakes.
