The exclamation mark with circles is brake fluid on UK cars, mine doesn't have that BRAKE light. Guess he might have checked his bulb by now anyway!

One word. Avoid.

Search the S40 forum here, the vast majority are 2001 2002 cars. Tons of minor faults and some pretty expensive ones too.

Guys its not for bulbs, it is the low brake fluid warning light.
Get the fluid topped up asap, and if it comes on again, you've got a leak from somewhere.

Well, I've searched high and low but found no alternative that will fit in the bulb holder. Bit the bullet and forked out £23 for the three dash bulbs. Painful, but the dash looks good now! Two days...

Wow glad you were ok. I also have three kids and your story is another reminder of why Volvos are worth considering. Was on that beltway last April, I love DC.

Hi Stan, Yes I did the same fix with a £2 transistor on mine, didn't have to solder it. I didn't think this was the cause of the intermittant fan speeds, just think its somewhere else in the whole...

How do I get the bulbs out of the holder, they appear to be fixed in place - I certainly can't pull them out by hand. Wish I wasn't so anal about dash lights! I don't even like this...

Sorted. The lamp just pulls out, needed a good yank though, seemed to be a bit stuck. Miuch looser now.
